Patience takes a back seat
Self Respect comes out to play
and Reasoning returns to its rightful position.

When Pride kicks in
Love is just a word,
Feelings fly out the window
and Common sense returns from its journey

When Pride kicks in
Humility watches from the sides
Because it has been in control for too long
and hasn't yielded any result

When Pride kicks in
Eyes are open
Hearts become sealed
Temper Rises
and The tongue becomes sharper than it ever was

I realize that i have done too much
Loved too much
Given too much
Been Patient too much

When Pride kicks in
I see you for You
I see me for Me
and i see this for what it is
Disrespect and groundbreaking NONSENSE

When Pride kicks in
My heart returns from recess
Bruised and tender
dragging Self-Respect behind it.

When Pride kicks in
My Standards return from leave;
My brain goes into overdrive
And sends Dignity to give my heart a HOT slap

When i have been stupid for too long
taken for granted for too long
when Patience has been abused for too long
and humility has been overlooked
