Day 16: Something you always think "what if" about

I think my biggest What if would have to be, What if i had gone to University of Lagos and not Uniben.
I always attribute my down to earth attitude to my 5years in Benin, i lived a "real" life, i remember coming home to Lagos during holidays and shaking my head at how all my Unilag friends acted.

I wanted to go to Unilag so bad but my Jamb Score didn't make the cut off, i missed it by 3marks even though i made 273, the cutoff for engineering was 276 and they refused to give me admission.
SO my dad went to Benin and changed my first choice University to Uniben.
I remember how much i hated it at first, i used to turn my nose up at everyone around me like i was better than them because i was from lagos.
Soon i came to realize how that simple change in the path of my life impacted me in every way positively.
I am light hearted, full of life, very real and i mix well with in all situations. I mixed with people from all works of life in Uniben and i realized that the world doesn't revolve around material things.

Friendship in Lagos was shallow, pretentious and people just wanted what they could get from you, compared to what i experienced in University.
The difference between the friendships i made in my NYSC life and University is what id like to call 7UP.
What if i have gone to Unilag???????
Well i wonder who id be today

The What ifs in life......sometimes i like to think our destiny has been shaped so if we had gone the other route, things may not have worked out.....

I am sorry, on behalf of my former school. Only God knows why He does what He does. Unilag still rocks

I can totally relate. I've had the same thoughts about my Uni and others...n the city/country comparatively too.

I can only thank God

I went to Unilag and I must say even I was digusted by the pretentious life of most of the students.

But I guess, it depends on you as an individual and how you relate with people generally.

OMG, I have the same reaction to Unilag. I have tons of friends that went there and I would have shook my head in pity for anyone who told me I wouldn't got there but I ended up not going to Unilag and I went to OSU for a hot minute. OSU gets a lot of bad press and most of those things are true, but the people there were so real and they brought me out of my Lagos-girl shallowness and I'm so grateful to God for that experience.
God has his purpose for our lives and it is best we sit back and let Him take full control of our destiny.
